Inspired by the spider and scorpion specimens from the nature lab and Louise Bourgeois’s Maman, this table, named Spine, draws on the interplay between strength and delicacy. In the human body, the spine is both a core support and a fragile structure, essential yet vulnerable. Similarly, spiders, as invertebrates, rely on their exoskeleton for protection and stability, a natural counterpart to the role of a spine in vertebrates.
